BIDRIWARE
.This stunning unique artwork was originally gifted by Persian artists and introduced to Indians in the 14th century under the Bahamani Sultans who ruled over Bidar, Karnataka State.
A beautiful amalgam of metals such as copper and zinc, Bidri contains the pure qualities of both the metals. The black color of the Bidri metal is obtained from zinc while copper contributes to the temporary color of the metal. Several intricate designs have been experimented with this type of metal, while maintaining the visual and aesthetic appeal intact. Bidri art is indeed a treat for art collectors and connoisseur’s all across the world.
Currently, Bidriware is produced mostly in Karnataka, in a small township known as Bidar. This craft was deeply loved in ancient times, and was appreciated by royalty.
The journey of Bidriware from ancient to modern India is incredibly rich and interesting. The origins of Bidriware culture starts from Persia, but it gets its unique look after its fusion with Indian culture. The popularity of Bidriware has been increasing day by day across the globe. Bidriware places itself as the largest exported handcraft in the world from India

'From Bombay, With Love'
We were excited to create a top inspired by DISHOOM's Mango Kulfi - it's one of those classic flavours that reminds you of exotic summers in tropical destinations.
Experimenting with shades of Orange, Yellow, and Cream, we came up with a colour palette that evokes the rich, long, heady days of summer.

DESSERT INTO DESIGN!

RESTAURANT
LONDON

- RESTAURANT OF THE YEAR
- CONCEPT OF THE YEAR
- TRAILBLAZER OF THE YEAR
This London establishment needs no introduction- its a vibe! A whole culture has been built which has widened the scope through which contemporary Indian food is seen and loved.
Inspired by the Irani cafes of a nostalgic Bombay, Dishoom has paid attention to every detail- to dine here is definitely an experience ( As a Parsi myself, I can definitely attest they got the vibes right, from the Asho Farohar to the tilted mirrors ). Each location ( there are around 8 now ) has been given special attention and the food is consistently noted for being some of the best food across the city, evident in the numerous accolades attached to the brand.
It’s widely successful – not an easy feat in a city like London with several options at your doorstep- and we can see why. The art of storytelling is something we strive for at Bombay Atelier- and this is evident for Dishoom, definitely a huge inspiration on how to create a whole culture, that moves beyond food and design.
Considering how popular Dishoom is, it made perfect sense that their signature Kulfi is Mango, which is definitely India's most loved fruit. Check out how we recreated Dishoom's Mango Kulfi into a delicious piece of art!
