MAKING OF A KULFI:

the process

Each table has two main parts to it, the hand lathed aluminium base, and the hand made cement terrazzo. Each process has its own challenges and opportunities, and we had a lot of fun experimenting during the experimental process.

Take a look at some of the behind the scenes of how we create each special Kulfi tabletop. Our tile makers from Bharat Floorings had a lot of fun too, joking around about getting into the ice-cream business after this!

MAKING OF A KULFI:

1. Prepping Our "Ingredients"

2. Mixing Time

3. Adding Water

First up, we choose our base colour cement for our flavour. Then we add in our aggregate for our toppings! Aggregate can consist of glass, stone, metal chips- we are only using 100% recycled materials!

After all our toppings have been added to the cement, we give it a good stir to blend everything together. This is an important step to making sure the aggregrate is well varied and distributed for the final table top!

Once its well blended, clean water is added into the dry mix to create a slurry mixture. It's important to get the right ratio of water to aggregate and cement, otherwise our tops don't set properly. Our talented artisans have been experimenting and figured out the perfect blend!

4. Prepping the Mould

5.  Creating the Kulfi swirl!

6. Time to Rest

Our silicone moulds are perfectly prepped for our base mixture to flow into. We use silicone to ensure the final top comes out perfectly even!

The fun part of the process! Adding our swirls to create our unique Kulfi flavours! We create a contrasting colour to make everything pop and by hand creating unique patterns. Each table is one of a kind!
